Then,by extension,Canada should only be responsible for 1.8% of the global costs,right? Someone needs to explain why Canada has levied draconian taxation under the guise of "carbon tax" to the point where those taxes are being passed on to the consumer in every aspect from housing to food costs to the point where this country is functionally bankrupt.

Like I said before you need to look at the per capita basis, we are either the worse or narrowly the second worse in the WORLD.

Canada’s population is roughly 38 million. Out of the 10 worst polluters, the closest in population is the U.K., with approximately 67 million people. Carbon Brief’s analysis noted that on a per capita basis, depending how one counts it, Canada is either the worst, or the second-worst, polluter in the world. (The usual standard of dividing cumulative emissions by the current population leaves Canada as the worst, while per capita emissions added up over time ranks Canada second worst, behind New Zealand.)

I don't know about you but I worry a little more about the cost of groceries (one has to eat) and price fluctuations at the gas pump that can change 14cents a liter on any given day,
everybody on this thread fails to mention that we get quarterly rebate cheques for the carbon tax. Seems any excuse here to criticize the government and over many issues they have no control.

My family in gas alone pays approx 800.00 a year in CO2 tax, that's just fuel and does not include groceries (CO2 tax is passed on by the suppliers.) If i was sit down and fully figure it out were probably looking at 1000.00 bucks a year in CO2 tax. Pretty sure the rebate isn't that high.

The lower income earner of every household should be getting these. At my house, that's the missus, so I don't know a lot about it. I think its about $130 four times a year.
Have you filed you taxes the last couple of years?

Ontario doesn't have there own carbon tax (if they did they could spend the money however we wanted), so we are under the federal program which pays back 90% of the carbon taxes.
This is why I say it's not about the environment, it's just a wealth transfer - from higher income earners who spend more than average on fuel and heating to lower income earners who spend less on fuel and heating.
And the sooner people realize that IT'S NOT ABOUT THE CLIMATE, the better. It's a vote buying wealth transfer - that's all.

It's more than land mass. It's temperature - we need to heat our houses, and lack of an efficient public transit system.
And even if we do figure those in, then there's the standard of living thing too, and that's the big issue - do we want to lower our standard of living to that of Europe - or Asia - or Africa???
That's what the UN's end goal is and the WEF is onside with that as well. When you jump on the climate change bus, that's where it is going.
And if you think I'm dead wrong and a conspiracy theorist, please go do your homework.
