Wmu 27 Moose
Hello all, as most of us moose hunters are our camp is chasing tags, with the unlikely chance we get one in our current area we've started to expand our search. Wondering about any info in wmu 27 east of cochrane. Is this a sea of orange type are come October? or is there still lots of room for new camps? Not that our camp get along with other hunters but we also don't like the idea of putting down other roots where others have been for years before us. The etiquette factor and respect for others has a lot to do of where we have hunted the last 5 years.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Fowlplay12
Our group hunted there last year around Circle Lake and for the amount of wilderness there wasn't much sign of moose
We did manage to see a young bull by the middle of the week but we had a cow tag.
The only cow tag we saw was crossing one of the main roads near Cochrane early in the morning and of course no shot could be taken. There are lots of wolves in this area and the MNR gave out alot of cow tags last year and no one can figure out why unless it is to get rid of moose like WMU 21A so the woodland caribou can flourish waht a joke as we hunted there also and never saw one not even a track.
Hope this helps

Hunting there is better than itv was 20 years ago but tags were cut hard there this year I believe 60-70% reduction
