Anybody start baiting for Spring bear yet?
Knowing season is around the corner anybody start baiting yet?
There is still 2 to 3 inches of snow covered most part at where we hunt up in 47.

We are waiting until later this year, burned a lot of fuel and time last year for poor results. Going to focus on setting up the stands and cutting shooting lanes for the time being.

Yes I agreed.
We were running back and forth (3.5hr drive each way) doing the same thing and it gets very expensive through out the season.

We don't bait until the bugs start to come out. that seems to be when the bears are most likely to get in a routine of hitting baits. Not great for the hunter but.......

I did grab 2 cell cams for this season and will be putting them on our established bait sites. First sign of movement we will probably pound the bait to it.

I hunt 47 as well. Don't typically bother until May long weekend. That often corresponds to when the black flies come out in force as someone else mentioned.

Son and DIL went into the hunt camp in WMU50 with ATV's this past weekend. There's still 1' of snow in the bush in some spots, but, trails are open with lots and lots of water and mud. It was still dead quiet, there was a ton of Wolf/Coyote tracks, but, the Porkies were out and about. Ice is still on the ponds. No Moose,Deer or Bear tracks around anywhere. It seems it's early yet.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....
