    Default Nice Tom down

This morning my buddy and me hunted from the exact same spot I have hunted on the opener for 10 of the last 16 years. Decoys out, settled in the blind by 5:30. Around 6:00 a Tom behind us about 40 yards starts to gobble. Other Tom’s that are farther away start to gobble back. This continues until 6:20. During this time I made a few calls with my slate call. At 6:25 the Tom gobbled off to my right, really close. A few minutes later he walks out into the field. He stops to look at 2 deer that were running across the field. He starts walking further into the field and stops again at 28 yards from us. My buddy shoots and he’s down. We go out to get the bird and as we are weighing him another Tom gobbled off to our left. Quick into the blind and a few minutes later a Tom walks into the field but doesn’t get closer than 50 yards.
We hunt until 9:00 when it started to rain.
    22 pounds, 10.2” beard, 1.18 & 1.25” spurs. Score 66.71
This was my buddies second Turkey. Last year we doubled and he shot his first.
