Question on places I can go sight my crossbow and do some target shooting.
Hi I am a recently getting in to hunting. I bought a excalibur mag 340 crossbow. I have been trying to find a shooting range or area that allows me too shoot my crossbow. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or ideas on what to do in this situation because 90 percent of the ranges I have called said no crossbows are allowed. I also live in toronto and have a small backyard which I don't feel would be ideal to practice in. So if anyone has any suggestion it would be greatly appreciated thank you

They are just west of Barrie and have a range for bows & crossbows.

check out the crownland atlas map.
find a patch of crown land where it sais general use/hunting allowed.
then once there, find a good place with an appropriate back drop, and set up appropriate targets and practice.
you want to make sure you look like ure target practicing, and not hunting ... showing up to crown with firearm and no targets ... ull have a hard time explaining to CO that you are not hunting ...
this time of year, alot of activity on crown,[ATV, campers, dirt bikers, "Content" creators] so you really want to take ure time and find a good place within the crown to practice, so you know if the arrow misses the target, or goes through, it will be stopped. Rock back drop will distroy ure arrow, and mud and soft sand back drop ... ull never find the arrow again as it will dig in deep.
great opportunity to scout as well this way and find potential hunting spots.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've been looking into crown land but alot of then say you need to check with the township bylaws. In most of the bylaws they have a discharging a firearm bylaw which prohibits shooting bows unless it's for hunting so it's seems to get tricky.
