Default Time to switch to Tatacam from SpyPoint

SP link Micro lte quit sending pictures Monday tried the online self help nothing so today did online chat explained what i had already done as per self help but still had to do all again. Not knocking chat person they just follow scripts setout for them, turns out sim card not working, told guy this was a replacement camera from a few years ago so he went and checked came back with the out of warranty answer (i sort of expected this) and sorry cant help. I did point out that although camera is out of warranty the sim is spypoints should they not exchange that, went and checked his answer was buy a replacement link micro from them and 3 months of service free for 130Cad told him that's not much of a deal as it almost same as cabalas (https://www.cabelas.ca/product/166653/spypoint-lm2-cellular-trail-camera} . I had him give me the 888 service number been on hold for and hour now , if someone has another please share LOL. When I 1st purchase camera you could call SP direct service and client care has gone downhill last few years.

We've had nothing but problems since Monday. They've been fine all year. 1 out of 3 cameras are working.

I almost wish they were all not working so I wouldn't be kicking myself when I get a picture while I'm on a different stand. It does help with deciding where I'll sit though when they all work as they should and keeps us from having to walk in and check the backup camera.

I had one die this year, it was the first one I bought so probably 3 years. Ordered another from Cabela's, it wouldn't send pictures, so I spent 2 days with chat people and on phone. They certainly don't know their own product, like said they read from a script and won't leave it. After the 1st guy I knew more than them I think and could certainly guide them through the process. I sent back to cabelas with request to replace it. They screwed that up and gave me my money back and wouldn't send another unless I reach the 149 free shipping mark, even though when I called them they saw that it was marked for replace. Just can't good help anymore. I ended up buying another one as I needed something else a week later, hasn't arrived yet. I'd not buy them, but when they work it is great to figure out where you want to hunt the next day. I will have 3 SP once the new one arrives. I won't be replacing anymore when the next one stops working, just go back to the old method of checking once in awhile.

I have 2 of the original Spypoints and they are still working just fine. I haven't done an update or anything on them. They will for some reason stop sending pictures for a day or so and then start sending them again but other than that no issues. I have a Tactacam as well and although it has far superior resolution it is an absolute battery hog. It uses 12 batteries and alkalines last barely a month and expensive lithium's aren't much better. Unfortunately none seem to be immune from issues. I think maybe we expect to much from putting a cell phone in the bush and expecting it to work all the time. Spypoint is definitely on the lower end of the pricing spectrum, so I guess more problems should be expected. I hear very good things about Exodus, but they are definitely pricey.
The customer service issue is frustrating, but Spypoint sure isn't the only company suffering from that issue in this day and age. I've had decent luck with my spypoints. Did have one die this summer, but its only and uses 3G. I suspect that is the issue, it communicates, but can't get a good enough service to transmit pic. It not just works as a cell cam. Replaced with a new G36. PIcs are much nicer, but as a consequence of that battery usage is much higher. Can't get both. I went 12v for it as lithium battery prices are nuts lately.

Hope you have better luck with Tactacam, but I've read a lot on them and they too have their issues.

I have a 4-year old plain Link Micro and it quit connecting to the Cell Network in July. Thankfully it still kept taking photos and saving them to the memory card.

I tried calling customer support but my phone died after half an hour waiting to get through. Being that it’s hunting season, it’s their busiest time of the year. It gets easier to get through after Christmas.

Given that the camera is 4 years old and not an LTE model, I don’t think a fix is possible so either I buy a new camera, or I go without. I might try to string-arm them into giving me a deal by suggesting that I buy another brand.

my old 3g model Link Evo's did the same thing. It still communicates, but can't manage to transmit pic, or maybe one every 20 or so. I think its just the cell connection failing as new technology is taking over. I retired it to just a Trail cam, and went with a new G36 in the same spot. Signal went from 25% to 90% and transmits every transmission time with no issue
