So bang on 3 inches about 200 ft off shore at Virginia Beach. Wasnt able to get past the dock as there is a pressurecrack that I wasn't trying pass on the this ice. . 200ft off shore is all I got to.

It's getting there. Just in time for it to warm up and rain a few days next week.

Yeah he posted that the store will be open starting tomorrow for minnows and taxi rides are available in the argo until the huts are out.

Pretty sure he wants to see what the weather does next week. Couple days above zero at nights and days is in the forecast with rain. And not enough currently for a hut. Hopefully the forecast doesn't get any warmer.

Haven't fished nip since I was a we boy . Must of been over 30 years . I usually hit a lake before then to try for the whitties prefer them over the wallys. Thinking about heading there next week north. But you do need to clean them right and take the mudine out.

Funny - I haven't fished Simcoe since i was 16 - 42 years ago. Maybe we should do a Quid Pro Quo - you take me out on Simcoe and i'll take you out on Nip. Plus i have pretty sweet accomodations up at Nip. No running water but full kitchen, heat, bedrooms, tv etc..

I have had some great outings on Simcoe Joe. Just have move around to find them but once you do it is game on! Lots of small ones but lots of Biggins mixed in.

    You would enjoy the trip.

I know how leaving home water feels it's hard to keep me away from simcoe. Usually just make 1 northern day trip every winter.

Man do things change quickly . Not sure if the entire lake is frozen over or not but from willow to sibalds was covered as far as you could see.. Looked like a soft spot and possibly open in a small area as your coming in to Jacksons point on lake drive.

Checked out 3 locations not far off shore but was open days ago. One location had a thin spot but easily noticed it was lickly an open hole that froze last night . It had less than 2 inches and didn't even bother standing on it. The other looked better and the 3rd even better it may be scouted tomorrow from a buddy. We made plans to spud out of jp Tuesday so if she holds I could probably head to the point Monday afternoon and test drill some holes to save time Tuesday.

I will head to vb in the morning for a few hours gotta try and put a jumbo on the board. Will post ice conditions in the morning.

Stay safe everyone. Things are looking good.

Vb had 6 inches where I was fishing. Saw a couple a sleds and atvs out and about. The Crack near shore was moving again but easily manageable.
Fishing was slow ony caught a dink and a 13er .

My buddy made it out over some whitties said there was 4 to 5 where he was but changed to 1.5 to 3 inch just past where they were. Apparently they were slow today aswell as he and his buddy only had 3 by 11.

    Stay safe everyone.
