Censorship is killing OOD forum

So what's worse on a web forum? Belligerent arseholes who insult you, ridicule you or post their address and invite you over for a fight or the moderators who repeatedly warn the aforementioned arseholes and ban them if their behavior continues?

If the answer isn't immediately obvious you may be one of the problems.

It's a work in progress Badenoch, we continue to protect and defend our good members. It's a full time job when the banned "arseholes" just change their name and mask to sign up again, over and over then head to the "Off Topics" to have monkey fun.

But up until around 2019 this site was hoping what is now posted in 30 days we use to post in one day.

Troutslayer even you would remember those days having started on this site around the same time as I .

Back then almost every topic had posts in them.

Again let's call a Spade a Spade the censorship has kinda gotten out of control.

Not everyone was actually kicked off here some left as they found they could not contend with the amount of censorship.

I'm still here as I am hoping we can get this site back where it use to be, but these day's I don't have as much time and I have to be so careful on what I say.

Please remember nobody is forced to read the Off Topic and politic threads.

I find that all forum boards are less busy than before. It seems to be the way things are now. Many people have moved to Utube, Facebook and other social media platforms. The rules we all follow (or should follow) here at OOD were written when the site was launched. You can say anything you want on these forums as long as the rules are followed. There is no censorship here. Just rules you agreed to.

Nail in the coffin was adding the covid sub forum. Boy that went to pot. Between the lib/con and vac/anti vac sect there was little to no outdoors topics being discussed. Just hammering back and forth with contempt never seen before.

Ok lets, there is only 2-3 members that probably agree with you. Thing is why not just follow the rules. Almost seems there is a sense of entitlement just because they were here for a long time.
Now lets be clear there has never been any censorship on this forum but yes there has been censure for not following there rules. Those rules are for everyone as they have be evenly applies to all members, mods, and Admin.

Although that is true unfortunately as mods we are task to monitor the forum and have to read every post. So keep that in mind. Quite frankly what you do and say in your house is your business but here its my house and as a guest either follow the house rules or leave.

Re: censorship - I don't think that it is the problem... It's the result of an underlying problem of people being all-out obnoxious. For years this forum was the poster child of keyboard warriors who spent very little time afield - and yes, we can figure out who you area - putting down guys that are out there every free minute they have. I still blame the anonymity provided by the lack of requirement for real names being used - which is one of the reasons for the success of media like facebook where people use real names and post real pictures. Most FB pages have very strict (far stricter than OOD) content control and it doesn't hurt them.

Ya I'm big enough to admit to being one of those and as penance vowed to adopt a more you do you and I'll do me as long as its legal mindset and as punishment volunteered to moderate this forum to try and be the change I wanted too see.

Challenge accepted,but,no way could I be convinced to act as a moderator. I simply don't have the patience, anymore. It sure wouldn't break my heart to see the entire forum re-emerge as a clone of The Red Fisher Show.
