Because every DEI type out there would be immediately spearing rainbows and salmon in small creeks. I know they do it now, but put in a season and it will be on a massive scale.

This is something I've been wondering about as well, and have thought about reaching out to the MNR - but haven't had time to do it. Michigan has newly implemented spearfishing seasons for walleye, lake trout and whitefish in some areas of Lake Michigan, as far as I'm aware it has been a success so far. Given that Huron/GBay is the same body of water, at the very least I would like to see the MNR follow suit. There are places you can go in Quebec, but for me that's a 6h+ drive, at which point I might as well fly to Florida.
