fish hold everywhere, for bigger fish look for suspended fish near shelves,or underwater islands or points.smaller walleyes can be targeted any shallow depth at weedlines,or any type of cover,i preffer sunken trees and logs...you will catch good fish if you do this...and fish during the day,we catch between 25 and 100 day per person using these techinques, plus there is lake trout, pike and smallmouth to boot!

i know im replying to a post from a few months back, but im curious to see how fishfrenzy made out at onaping. i fished it in august and had an awful time. we arrived on a thurs afternoon, it was 26 degrees and sunny. we slammed smallies pike all thursday evening. numerous 3lb smallies, and a 7lb pike was the catch of the evning. had a few brews at the cabin, hit the sheets, and woke up a few hours later to a TORRENTIAL downpour and the weather being maybe 8 degrees outside. after that, the temp maybe rose to a high of 12 degrees the rest of the time we were there and it stayed cold and wet. we didnt make it to the north end of the lake. it was crazy windy out and the 14' didnt fair much of a chance on the long ride to the north end of the lake in the brutal winds. we did manage a few more pike and a couple picks, but nothing like the first night we were there. i would love to go back and try the lake again tho. seems like an extremely promising place for eyes and pike. hopefully you had some better luck than we did

I didn't end up getting up there this summer. I'm looking at taking a long weekend in the next couple of weeks to give it a try. I imagine the fall fishing up there would be great.

PM me if you decide that your going to Onaping. I can point you in the direction where we caught the majority of our fish the first night we were there. I am quite intrigued on Low Water Lake now tho as well.
