He just sent away for it last Friday.
That being said however; since he has his his deer tag, small game license, duck stamp, etc. and he is just missing his PAL; does that mean he can still come along on hunts, and participate (as a dogger for example, or calling geese); just not shoot? Futhermore, although it would limit my shooting - can he shoot using my gun, as long as there is only one gun between us?
Ugh, I just hope it comes in before small game starts - I've hunted alone, but honestly; I enjoy hunting with a buddy and sharing in the thrill of the hunt.
as long as he has passed his firearm saftey coarse and hunters ed, has an H-1 outdoors card and all appropriete tags and licenses he can hunt with someone who has a valid pal. he just cant own(possess) or buy(aquire) firearms and ammo.
lol i know cause my pal was cuttin it close but came thru just waiting for the card. ill let you guys know how long it takes from approval till its in my hands.

Hey Huntcampr,
Haven't decided yet. Any suggestions? (pehaps should be another thread) but ideally I would like to get a gun that can be used for multi purpose. At this point I am not interested in big game but not ruling it out. Mainly duck and turkey at first. Any thoughts?

Well,I downloaded the renewal form from the CFC website, filled them in,got the wife to sign it (although it states it's not necessary, but,if she doesn't they would be checking why not
),went to Shoppers for a new passport photo then mailed it all to New Brunswick. The forms didn't require references, signatures or anything else other than declaration questions which need a "NO" answer and my signature. Now,let's see how long it takes.

Holy Shmoly!
You guys have me depressed! I signed up for the CFSC last month and was told that I wouldn't get into a course until some time in December. Given the stories told here, It looks like I won't be able to hunt this spring and may have to wait until next fall.
I guess I should get a move on and get my Hunter Ed course registration in sooner rather than later, so that all I'm waiting for is the PAL.

Sorry missed this.... probably a little late but..... IMHO, the all around multi-purpose gun for everything from squirrels to waterfowl to moose is a 12 gauge shotgun with interchangeable choke tubes..... Shot to Slugs..... Remington and Mossberg both have very affordable combo pump packages... and used ones pop up often. I would choose a pump over a semi for a 1st shotgun... (simple action that's easy to maintain---- and safer)
