    Default Lowrance elite-4x ice machine

I just picked one o these up new this year, and am pretty excited to use it! This is the replacement of the x67c, and is more powerful with a dual beam. Anyone else pick one up? The only things I don't like is the TINY flasher, and the goofy float set up, I just put the float directly on the transducer cable and am hoping that works because the way they want you to set it up is so useless.

I have the Humminbird Ice 345c.
Same thing with the transducer float. Works fine hung off the transducer cable. I believe the set-up they recommend is due to patent issues.
I don't use the flasher screen though as I find the sonar screen far better.

Hah I thought it was due to patents, I'm guessing vexilar owns the rights to the float but it just so happens that on the lowrance the float is split and the rubber stopper fits perfectly on the transducer cable. Lol

I have a X67c on the bow of my boat with the transducer on my trolling motor. I love it.
For ice fishing I use my HDS5 (off my Consul) with the PP1 add on from Lowrance. I just used pipe foam and zip ties on my transducer cable as I hated the rig the PP1 came with. I NEVER use the flasher mode as the real time amplitude bar is far superior.
I love my HDS5 for ice fishing but it sucks the batteries hard.

I just looked and the elite has this amplitude bar and it looks awesome! Thanks for pointing that out. Works kind of like a vertical flasher and you can still have sonar screen beside it. Thats a great tip ifanyone buys one.
