I had a "perfect" set up Monday a week ago where he had no choice(I thought) but to enter the opening(a 3 acre orchard). Anywhere he went I would see him and with a lake downwind, he couldn't get around me to the lake and even if he did, I could shoot safely that way. A "perfect setup."
I called, he came, I caught a glimpse of him but he wouldn't expose himself and leave the treeline. He hung around moving back and forth until the crows found him and begun fussing/harassing him, then he left without ever giving me a shot.
Yep. Perfect setup alright............
Next time bring a truck with you! LOL

Keep at it and you will get them out sooner or later!
Dont blast it too loud. I use half volume on the same caller for the first blast, louder for the second and then half volume again for the third.
Start using howls now through march and you will see some dogs come in.
Also mouth calls doing whimpers really gets the males out to see who's screwing the pooch!

Has too much time on their hands
Gonna YouTube some calling patterns, on FP I have for (preset, volume 15) P1-Coyote locator and P2 - Cotton Tail distress. Tried female challenge bark, and vole squeaks. Lately haven't even heard a call back. Going out again Sat/Sun to Marlborough Forest. I wish I knew some farmers to work the land for them. Try hitting the farms this spring and get permission to hunt some private land and coyotes this year. The Journey continues back to the days of youth and hunting, although with more knowledge/respect to the rules.
