I've been wanting to get a CZ527 in .22 Hornet for some time. Maybe this year will be the charm?

Well i WAS thinking about a savage axis in .243 as my first center fire as a multi purpose rifle. But now that I've heard the rumour regarding
.270 minimum for dear I'm no longer sure..

.270 works well for deer, what rumour have you heard? Most of the guys in our camp use either 30-30, 30-06 or12 ga. (slugs). I'm the only one who uses a.270.

BTW, I think .243 is a good caliber, I bought a Savage Model 11 for my daughter who wants to get into deer hunting. The recoil is more manageable for her. I looked at the Axis for her and went a model higher and got the model 11 with a youth stock. The action seems to be a little smoother, but it comes with the same low grade scope. I told her that after she kills her 1st deer, she can have my Leupold and I will upgrade. LOL

Just picked up a minty 3" Browning BSS for ducks next year. I've always shot a side by side better than any other style of shotgun, and figured what the hell, I'll give it a try. A little on the heavy side for an Upland gun, but I'm sure it'll see some action there as well.

Me too. I found on early last fall out west, $900 if memory serves. I got cold feet. If you're interested...I could check my emails and see if I can find-out where it was. Who knows...might still be there.

Nice gun. Heavy yes, but beautiful to look at and tough as a tank. Another fine Miroku gun and in the same class as the Winchester Model 21 but without the insanity!

I've been looking for a good deal on a .223 or .243 to add to the gun case. Not getting too serious this year as too many other expenditures coming our way. BUT I've learned to never turn down an excellent deal.
