Age Appropriate Feeding Schedule?

Just wondering what you guys and gals think is an appropriate age to switch a dog from twice a day feedings to once a day feedings. I switched my setter after a year of age but now that I have a pup I've been feeding them both twice a day to keep things easy. Just recently they have become very demanding of their breakfast, often waking me up well before their scheduled feeding time of 7am. I've started to feed smaller breakfasts and larger dinners as of today but not sure if its too soon to transition a 8 month old GSP? What are your thoughts and what age would you recommend?

I switched at around 9-10 months
