    Really?

when I spoke to him last year, he indicated that the dog " nipped" his 6 year old when the boy startled it while sleeping. His estranged wife was making a big deal of it though. So he was seeking a good home for Bella.

The first time he tried to get rid of it was in may 2013 then in August he posted the puppy deal.
I posted both links to the two threads he started about Bella if anyone wants more info. People who know setters and the original owner say it is possibly a well bred dog.

Guy seemed quite shady. First reported dog was 7 ended up being closer to 9. Was told given away to a hunter, then just lent out. Then the dog was at a girlfriends.

    Hmmm.

And now poor old Bella is at a rescue.

Darn it. I wish I could have given him a home.

Already have a mature dog and need to be thinking about raising a puppy so can't give him a home. Was very tempted when I first looked into it just didn't trust the guy. Dog seems to have a good resume just unfortunate not to have found the right owner.

One more sad story. I'd take her but 3 dogs is the max in my city + vet expenses can be high for a dog getting old and I don't have the money. The fault lies at the gun club's feet. You don't get rid of a dog because it is old; I don't care who you are.

In this case I believe the gun club tried to rehome the dog with a new owner. The new owner I sense just wanted the dog to flip it for a puppy

Sharon why would it be the fault of the gun club ? They gave the dog a home that they thought would be his "retirement" home its not there fault that the guy turned out to be shady. The op should not even mention the hunt club at all as this has nothing to do with them what so ever.

I hear you , but rehoming a 9 year old is SO hard on a dog. Surely they could have cared for it for another 3-4 years. The dog had given them good service for 7+ years- helped them to make $$$$.They also knew it had no experience with children. Just not something I'd do.
