    Default Reminder: packing trailer bearings

Just a reminder before spring fishing starts (assuming winter ends), don't forget to service your trailer for trouble free trailering.

I have learned the hard way in the past that neglecting the bearings is bad juju. Topping off buddy bearings does not equal repacking the bearings.

I have since done several trips over 1000km without issue, the most recent being 2500km in 2 days.

An OOD video showing you the process.

A buddy that I travel north with has an atv trailer that he bought new about 10 years ago. It has the Dexter type hubs that can be greased. I asked how often he takes the hubs apart and inspects and repacks the bearings. He said he hasn't ever, since the hubs have grease nipples. I couldn't believe it! I think a lot of people think if they have grease fittings, they do not have to service their bearings.

Yes and those are the ones I get a good chuckle out of when I drive by as they sit on the roadside with the axle hub buried in the gravel.
