I think the key is buying a gun that's designed to shoot slugs first. Built like a rifle more or less. While many other shotguns can and do shoot very accurately with a slug barrel and a load that it "likes", they're still designed to be a shotgun first, slug gun second.

I am in the market as well and after lots of research, if looking for a dedicated gun that wont break the bank, there are always the mention of 2. and they of course were mentioned here, the H&R, and the Savage. Just waiting for the right deal now on one of them and I will own a slug gun:-)

H&r slug hunter is best bang for your buck. Have one and savage 220. Both are great guns.

Savage all the way. Last one I owned put three shots measuring 2.5 inches at 200 yards....
