Good on the mnr for nailing poachers and the like but when they start fining guys for taking a pee on the ice behind their shack or whatever, then that's just a money grab. I understand that technically it's illegal but they could probably charge every single ice fisherman out there , including guys in shacks who use a bucket and then dump it down the hole. For the most part urine is sterile so it really won't hurt the waterway.

    Cheers

I have been cheeked 8 times an twice one day ,survived twice all from different MNR officers on Simcoe and half the time was just getting set up and not even fishing lol . So those who cry the MNR doesn't do squat your wrong and is getting old. Never have I been cheeked so much in a season, the norm is 1-2 a year and that's a year not 2 -3 month season . Last year was cheeked late at night in Haliburton by a undercover MNR ,glad to see them out with the no MNR mind set that seems to exist.

I've never seen a CO levy a charge for that. Source please?

Seems hard to believe unless they suspected an angler of infractions and just came up with an easy charge. Remember the nailed Al Capone for tax evasion not all the other more violent crimes. The Mnr often know who the bad actors are but catching them .....well thaat's something else.
    Dano.
Ps. They must have a HUGE problem in Haliburton to blitz like that.

Guess my wife and I were well hidden last week end on the ice. We didn't see any MNR or helicopters. We did see a group of families come into our lake. About 20 in total. Mostly young kids with their parents. Hard pill to swallow when the lake is no bigger than a glorified pond but hey, nice to see kids ranging from age I'd say 4 to 12 out on the ice instead of In front of the TV.

I got that from a good buddy of mine who fishes White lake and knows lots of folks in that area. It was mnr from Kingston area I think he said. I'll see if I can get more particulars. It has always been against the law but that's also the first I've heard of charges being laid. Maybe they had warned some guys before who didn't listen. Don't know for sure.

    Cheers
