Unfortunately, this was the case for me as well.

I started a thread a while ago to collect ideas for improving OOD Mag, and I hoped that staff from the magazine would take notice:

I thought it was a pretty good Mag, you covered everything from crappie to Gar. I'd agree to the more detail comments. As a hunter and angler I think you do a pretty good job of keeping things balanced. However I think there should be a hunting and fishing article in each mag. Spring--> Prepping for the Turkey season or late season rabbits. Fall--> Fall Esox, bass, pannies, or how to catch lakers/ specks in the year-round lakes.
Also I'd like to see one article in the Fishing annual on late ice, most of the north will be ice fishing until April on normal years.
I know you have to keep it down to x number of articles, so my vote for the first to go is the travel section... It's what I read after I've read everything else and some things twice.

The news section is great and Love the Bio article, don't be afraid of short info bites an isolated tips, think short attention span look at the FHM/ Maxim layout.

Minor detail, the end of the 20+ pike article said check on line and I could not find the article anywhere, even typing the given URL.
Heeere fishy fishy fishy fishy! :fish:

I thought it was a great issue. I don't know why some members here would want to toss it in the recycle bin. Perhaps these "Pros" should consider moving on up the ladder to a more experienced (and expensive) mag. Better yet, become a contributor and share "their" vast knowledge. I have been fishing for close to 60 years and don't claim to know all about it so I enjoy the articles in OOD. Also I am able to fill in the blanks most of the time and do not need every last tid bit of information handed to me on a platter.
Keep up the good work OOD and thanks for allowing me to have a say...........This post in no way is meant as a poke at anyone, just my 2 cents................................Boog

Boog, no offence taken, but my comment merely reflected my lack of interest in fishing (as stated in my post) not the other end of the spectrum you are speaking to, of "knowing it all" or "being a pro" so for me, an entire edition dedicated to fishing, is not something I am interested in, which is why that one went to recycle. Now the hunting annual yes please!

I am the same, however it went to a friend instead of the recycling bin after I glazed through it. I am sure there are alot of people that subscribe to OOD because they love fishing and give the hunting annual the heave ho as well.....

Well that's an oversight if I ever saw one. I'm working on it now and it should be good to go by tomorrow!

    Thanks guys.
Woody, Im actually in a lot of issues, more than my "fair share". Theres only so many pages and only so much space. That said and I hope April doesn't mind the OOD management team has made strides in the visual content the past while, based on feedback and what not. There is also a growing stable of some really great contributing photographers.

The two page spreads found in the fishing/hunting annuals are an example of how feedback helps, as they really just started appearing in the 2012 issues where I was fortunate to have the leaping Steelhead (fishing annual 2012) and then the does running across the field in unison (2012 hunting annual). The Salmon shot in this years fishing annual Jeff referred to is the 3rd.

    It (feedback) helps.

Having contributed to this annual edition I am happy with your product. I probably said too much on where to find your Georgian Bay Giants.

I do agree, one of the contributing authors appears to rehash the same old same old, but you can only write so many articles on fishing for a specific species.
I do enjoy reading about the different lodges and journey's the authors embark on. I have stayed at Golden Eagle and was most intrigued by the accuracy of the article surrounding the bear hunt.
