My new pup

He'll be put on a hundred or so grouse before the season starts. So I'll still have time to tweak the basic whoa a little. I hope he learns the whoa command as fast as he learned the retrieve! If not....I'll love him anyway.

Good response Sharon, people should never assume a questioning type of comment is leading to such negativity. I find the differences in gun dog training/expectations to be quite interesting and certainly vary. I believe Cass was coming from that perspective and see nothing wrong with his question.

Zoli, nice pics and looks like come summer you'll be having some fun not to mention the challenges that come with young dogs. Their learning curve can be very steep but very satisfying to see that growth in abilities in such a short time. Bet you can't wait to get started.

I had no ill-meaning in my post. I was just wondering since a previous post mentioned the dog being steady and such at 6 months. If it is that's awesome! I just know for myself I had high expectations as well but the more you learn and interact with other trainers, you find that most dogs aren't made before they are 2 or 3 years old. It's a long (and fun!) road.

Incredible dogs and pedigree should be an amazing pup. It's inspiring how realistic you laid out your expectations based on the sire and dam given the history behind them and your experience. Should be a good one I have a half brother to the sire and he is turning out nicely.

'But of course, with the pup comming out of Cedarwoods, and the cash I'm spending....he will be naturally broke, steady to the flush and shot, find me new covets while sitting on the front seat of my car, do 200yard blind retrieves, and let me know when ducks are overhead! He will be six months old by then, what more can a guy expect '
