Kent FS Vs. Silver Steel
Heading down to Wasaga to drop the family off at the in-laws and going to swing into Cabela's and grab a couple flats of fowl ammo.
Was going to grab Kent FS #2's but wondering if anyone shoots the Silver Steel, is it work the extra bucks?

Brand 1 steel shot vs Brand 2 steel shot. Do you guy's really see that big of a difference? I have only tried a few and pattern them they seemed ok can't remember what the results were last year. But anyways do you find a big enough difference especially if there is a large difference in cost?

I shot a variety of ammo last year, the higher dollar name brands, 1 worked amazing, 1 wasn't worth it's weight in, steel, (both patterned just fine) but when it came time to knock em down, one just wasn't doing it.
Shot some of the cheap stuff as I ran low on other stuff and it was laying in the bottom of the blind bag, just the run of the mill walmart Winchester X, and it did a heck of allot better than that one big dollar name brand.
Nice thing about Kent is it performs (in my experience) like a high dollar shell is suppose to, yet is only 18 bucks a box.
The "silver steel" is 4 dollars more, but still considerably cheaper then some other brands, just curious if the Silver is worth the $4

All I use is Fasteel. Get a good choke, pattern your gun, smash ducks!

I shoot the silver steel and I shoot federal heavy waterfowl loads (both 1.5oz of shot), used to shoot fast steel. Do I see a big difference, not really, may end up with a few less cripples as the season progresses. I sometimes use a wad stripper and the fast steel is not ideal through those due to the really high velocity, so the silver steel is better suited to that. Cost really is not an issue and at $22.00/box for a premium ammo it's still a good deal

I have shot more geese with Winchester cheapo 3in steel BB and #2 then any of the expensive stuff. I found that black cloud patterned fine but did not give me any advantage over anything else.
People say that speed kills but by last few shots of 3in T steel at 1000fps took down some geese this past fall. I am not planning to getting anything this slow anymore, but it still works, just hitting birds crossing in front of you is different.
Just be aware of speed limitations for a lot of chokes, these hyper speed loads are iffy for a lot of choke manufacturers.

Kent is good stuff, I have shot SS only when no FS was available and I didn’t see any diff. Kent is pretty much all I use and 2s and 3s for ducks and BBs for geese. All 3” I don’t see the value of 3.5” w/ high speed steel now. I have also had very good results w Rem hypersonic in #2 and BB - 1700 fps out of Beretta w/ a ext Mod choke. You have to find what brand/speed works w/ your gun/choke. I dont have good results w/ black cloud but that is probably just gun choke combo.
I didnt think T's were legal in ON but I used steel when it first came out in the US and the early stuff at 1200 fps was not good w lots of cripples, not until the 1500+ fps stuff came out did the kill rate go up. That is one of the reasons why we went to 3.5 back in the day was to get pellet count up w/ slow shot speeds.
