    Default Saskatchewan lowers bag limits

Just as I suspected, things are looking pretty grim in Saskatchewan because of the past 3-4 winters and the flooding that has taken place. Season limits for huns have been lowered to 8 (4 daily) and 4 (2 daily) for Sharptails. Our group will not be going this year again as we feel the season should be closed like they did for Antelope.

Seems there are declines all across the West right now for much the same reasons, also loss of CRP lands in the States.

It may take several ideal winters and springs to bring those populations back and it may be quite a disaster if we get a couple more really bad seasons. I have more confidence in the recovery of the sharptails than the huns considering they are a native bird adapted to the extremes in climate. It is definitely a good thing to not kill the remnants that are left.

Yep, time to give it a rest, this yrs and nxt yrs trip out there are both cancelled, hopefully some of the outfitters won't book people in, I've seen them cancel hunts just for that reason a couple yrs ago, poor spring and bad hatches.....
