Default Bear food what is everyone using...

Just joined a bear camp in Huntsville and just spent the weekend hanging stands and baiting all three baits we are running and was wondering what other bear hunters will be using to bring the bears in. We are using grains with molasses and bear crease, stink baits. Only have one stand that is being hit now is the stand is loaded around acorns. Will day old donuts suck them.

I'm a big believer in sweets and bakery products, but I have access to them for free so that's what I use. I also use lots of cheap vanilla and jello powder to sweeten things up and put lots of scent out there. For some reason I've never had much luck with molasses, they just don't seem interested around here in the farm grade stuff.

As to the acorns, from my experience when they fall my baits tend to become almost deserted for at least a week, after which you can sure pick out the shells in the scat.

Good luck with your hunt. Cheers

I use meat, poultry, salmon, trout, shrimp, mussels( they eat them at the last ) , bread, pastry and lots of oil/ grease. the bears hit my bait all night and day. I have a few 1 minute videos posted on my photo bucket account. It's public so go to Greenhorn. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

thanks. One of our baits is right by some acorn trees and right now we have bears on the baits at all times so going to load up some treats.

cheap (old roy) dog food from walmart, cover in a carton of molasses, a jar of peanut butter, and a couple packets of jello power, and mix together.

Popcorn is a good one too.

Why I avoid using fish and poultry especially during hot summer spells--that stuff goes bad real fast and bears will not touch it unless they are starving. Other creatures drawn to a baitsite (vultures, ravens, fox, coyotes, skunks, etc) will take it however.

I use the corn oat mollasses. Fill the barrel with that and dump more syrup and jellow powder on top.

I have a bunch of deer and moose scraps hanging in a burlap sac. I also have a dripper I made that is full of Vanilla extract.

I just make a thing of jiffypopcorn each morning or night when I go to the stand. fresh, I can smell it from the top of my stand, 18 yards away.
