Do the rounds make it in to the gun automatically by themself? Or do you have to load them. Point was when hunting larger game animals if you miss on your first shot when the animal is more than likely unaware you are there and probably standing still the other nine shots won't do very much except for wound.

Nice moose.. The Op's opening post was rather immature in nature but I see nothing wrong with using such a rifle. Not exactly my cup of tea but really no different than a browning BAR other than being not as pretty.

I agree with that and the same applies with my 3 round mag.
What I was getting at, was what is the difference between having 10 rounds in a mag or in my case, 3 rounds in the mag and 6 rounds in the sleeve. I see it as more convenient having all the rounds together in one container.
If the OP is an educated and ethical hunter, why would people have issues with him wanting a 5.56mm, 1MOA, 10 round mag rifle for hunting coyotes.
Seems to me like some would like that rifle banned from hunting just because it looks different. Sound familiar?

Heck, want to drop $3000 on a semi auto to go shoot yotes with? Have at 'er. But arguing that it would be a more optimal gun, than say the same chambering in a bolt gun? Not going to agree with you.
If it were the better system out there for going afield for varmints, I'm pretty sure you'd see more of them on shows like Predator Quest. There are a few tarted up AR variants on there, and having shot a few, I'll admit they're nice. Similarly there are nice ones chambered in .308 / 7.62x51NATO that would do the job on moose / deer, as a previous poster has indicated.
Having a newb post on here about buying one for poking yotes, and slapping a 10 round LAR mag in to do so doesn't smell quite right, but as you've pointed out....it's legal.
IMHO, 3K to spend on one gun with that intent seems a bit wasteful, since a highly accurized 700, or other similar bolt gun could be had for 1/2 that, and still leave some money to play with some other toys.
Then again, having shot a ton of C6s, C7s, C8s, C9s, and lots of other tactical toys in my previous life, I guess the excitement of playing with their semi-auto cousins has worn off.
I am behind you on the fact that it is odd, I give you that one, but not illegal so have at'er.
The velocity thing, I believe the 223 uses a fast enough powder that the velocity drop with 4in less barrel is minimal, not like back in the black powder says.
For accuracy, I hated short barrels though, just too light and easy to move when squeezing off a round, although I have seen some guys shoot light guns as well as heavy guns.
I like heavy guns, it may weigh a pile but my 9lb military rifle with a scope on it is stable, and gives me a workout as I hike through the bush.
I find the biggest problem with a semi is how fast the rounds get shot and how fast the wallet empties. A single shot will save you money in the long run

25 FPS less for every inch of barrel less, or thereabouts. 4" about 100 FPS less, not earth shattering.

I don't feel any differently today than 5 years ago when I made my original comments
I still think 5 rounds is more than enough, no matter what the rifle, and even though there are loopholes that can get around that basic standard, from a hunting standpoint, I think it should be like the rules for waterfowling. No more than 3 rounds complete allowed for the purpose of hunting (shotgun)
In this case, stick with the status quo where the rifle holds 5 for the purpose of hunting.
I would love to see unblocked magazines for range use, but for the purposes of hunting, I think a 5 shot limit is reasonable for a rifle. There is a difference between harvesting and hitting

As trimmer put it. If you miss with the 1st, it's not like a quick 2nd, 3rd, or 4th is going to make much difference.

The differences in performance you mention are sometimes highly over blown.

It does when you are shooting at a coyote at a dead run across a field at 200 yds or so !
