I use 8lb main line and a 6 lb lead for salmon. Takes a while to get them in, but the fight is awesome.

How can you tell the difference in the "awesome fight" between a 15 lb fish and a 25 lb fish using a 6# leader? The walking?
In the slanting sun of late afternoon the shadows of great branches reached from across the river, and the trees took the river in their arms

i can imagine landing a yellowish fish in a really open space, maybe even a chrome fish but not in the spaces i was fishing lol. Actually honestly i can't imagine anyone landing a 25 lb chrome straight from the lake salmon, it would just take you under a log before you would be able to do something because all you can do with a 5 pound leader is chase after it and hope lol.

I caught around 30 fish that day and kept the one hen for myself, some roe and table fare, was fishing from around 4 am until dark. Wow , I did the math and it seems to me you were averaging 2 fish an hour. Pikeattack your arm must be sore catching all those 25 lb'ers. Your living the dream Fishman, a dream.
A bad day of fishing....is not as bad as you think.

I may have just peed a little at that comment.
Pikeattack, it's all in the rod dude. It's all in the rod.
And she thinks we’re just fishin’ on the riverside, throwin’ back what we could fry. Drownin’ worms and killin’ time, nothin’ too ambitious.

i find it hard to believe that anyone can land 25 lb chrome salmon on 5 lb line with even an 18 ft rod, considering it would just spool you, especially if you fish the spots i do with logs and downed trees blocking the river anywhere, good luck lmao, id love to see a vid of a CHROME salmon not some old boot thats been in river for weeks.

My brother sent me a pic of a chromer around 20lbs from the weekend. He uses 4-6# leader on a 14ft raven. Why is it so hard to believe?
