Sad reality out on the lakes. Lots of guys do the same here with panfish and pike. Heres hoping the next video is a CO's truck with that boat attached.
Bark Lake could have been a trophy Pike fishery if managed properly! I'm sure there are still some monster, but killing them for nothing sucks.
"This fish was going to die anyway because the gills were ripped" claims Parent. I saw the video a few times. I see no ripped gills or blood coming out of said ripped gills. I too call BS!
And she thinks we’re just fishin’ on the riverside, throwin’ back what we could fry. Drownin’ worms and killin’ time, nothin’ too ambitious.
And the award for most insincere apology goes to.....
He had a stupid smirk on his face the whole time. As others have stated he is only sorry that he got caught, actually he's not sorry he got caught, he made that abundantly clear with his stupid comments during the confrontation, he's sorry he got tracked down and humiliated. Good thing he stated that he's a hunter and fisherman just the kind of poster child the antis are looking for.
Hunter and fisherman?! I think not. Resource abuser? Absolutely.
Saw the original post on here, have been watching this progress and today the guys explanation of how this is totally outside his normal behaviour, has never done this in the past and never will in the future. What a pile of crap, don't know what else to say, quite sure he won't get the penalty this behaviour deserves.
Guys I think it's very interesting to have a discussion about the ethics of species introduction, how various non-native species should be managed, and what anglers should consider when they catch various non-native fish, but can that be on a separate thread? This thread was about the illegal killing and wasting of a native, naturally rare species that the regulations manage for conservation through one of the strictest limits applied to any fish provincewide (besides threatened species I guess). There should be no question about the ethics of that act, and mixing it in with examples like carp, which have no regulated limits and sit in the "grey area" between destructive invasive and naturalized game fish, makes it sound like the muskie thing is an open question. Not that that was anyone's intent, I'm sure.
As for Mr. Parent, anyone planning to go as him for halloween? Just wear a bald cap (if you're not bald), a fake Hogan stash (or grow a real one), and hold a fish bat in one hand and a mounted muskie in the other. Post pics.
If you don't have a mounted muskie, catch a pike and put little black stickers on all its spots.
