The point I am trying to make is she has faced all kinds of opposition from hunters and anti-hunters. She has been accused of not being a true hunter, probably because of her looks. Her father mentored her well. She is a true hunter to me and I stand behind her regardless of her wearing gold earrings and makeup while turkey hunting. She rocks!

So why would you degrade her by calling her a "city slicker hunter" in your original post? Shes a woman who hunts. How the heck that equals "city slicker" is beyond me. Your post in itself is opposition to her.

Why don't you all grow up and have some respect for the other few women here on this board or some of the younger posters. These kind of comments make me despise going out in the field to hunt amongst guys.

So am I a city slicker lipstick-wearing hunter? I was born and raised in the city but was influenced by my dad to appreciate and enjoy the outdoors. I don't feel like I fit the description of a city slicker, certainly not a city slicker hunter.
I don't intentially wear makeup or jewellery while hunting, but on occasion yes I may have earrings on or makeup still on from earlier in the day....so what?
Eva has an image to hold, a brand, she represents many hunting and outdoor things and shockey probably has lots of sponsors behind the name and shows and she is constantly in the media and social spotlights - so she is probably told by the producers to always look her best - even while hunting. Again...so what who cares?

You are absolutely right. These kind of comments don't belong on here. I think we[MEN] sometimes forget what crowd we are in and don't think before we insert our feet in our mouths.

I just watched the video. I think she did a pretty good job of speaking for hunters. As for the city slicker good looking blonde thing it ironically probably helps our cause. The fact she is a hunter and not the classic misconception of what a hunter is in the anti's eyes and minds helps our image. Everybody who steps in front of a camera has a makeup artist work on them, who cares? If I was her father I would be proud of her.

I apologize for calling her a "city slicker". I didn't think the word was that harsh at the time. I said it in a sarcastic tone as many have negatively criticized her on other social media sites, saying comments such as you're not a "real hunter", in which I disagree. I was trying to portray her as a good advocate for the hunting community with a little humor. I guess I should have kept the sarcasm out of the comment.

Eva is an awesome role model for those of us that have young girls getting into hunting.

She has communicated personally with my 10 year daughter on a couple occassions about my daughter's progress in archery, and her interests in hunting. Her kind words and thoughts (I think it was her personally autographed picture that hangs above my daughter's bed) helped give my daughter strength to pursue the sport she's learned to love.

The world needs more Eva Shockeys for sure.

I applaud the effort of everyone getting away from sexism and derogatory comments on this board.
I don't know her as I don't watch TV but anything to help promote hunting is great and I admire her for it.

When I sought the help of my friend's daughter to look for my deer during archery it kindled on her an interest to pursue hunting.You never know she might actually do it. It never hurts to involve young people for the future of our sport.

I was once a city slicker but not all city slickers are ignorant of the country.
