Number of reasons: They want groups, not individuals.
Outfitters prefer non-residents especially if the exchange rate is significant.
They don't want resident hunters because logistically can return the following season and hunt right beside the bait they've established through the years w/o using their fascilities.
Many don't want archery hunters which require much more work for the set-up, increased tracking and more lost bears....and many owners do go south for the warmer climate so don't respond to enquiries til they back to Ontario.

They are all heading south because they are Americans and their homes in the States are their permanent residences. But be sure they will be back in the spring with their hands out to receive all of their allotted tags and other perks from the MNR, which they then sell for high prices to their clientele. These outfitters are hand fed by the MNR, whereas the Ontario hunting community will be back on this forum again next fall complaining about why the moose tag allotment is so screwed up and we in Ontario can't get adult tags. One perk they receive is that more access roads are being closed each year to protect fishing hunting areas only for these outfitters.

sorry but this thread is about bear outfitters not moose outfitters with lodges. An bear outfitter has the same problems getting into their BMA as the regular Hunter. Their not allowed to touch the roads,if they do their's a much larger find.
