Joe, good luck in the search. He opened up last year in the spring, I am assuming he is this year as well, even if his site doesn't show it. Next time I see him it will be for wolf!

They don't want resident hunters because logistically can return the following season and hunt right beside the bait they've established through the years w/o using their fascilities.
Many don't want archery hunters which require much more work for the set-up, increased tracking and more lost bears....and many owners do go south for the warmer climate so don't respond to enquiries til they back to Ontario.
    none your statement is correct
North River outfitter takes individual person, charges on Canadian money, they do take resident, only takes archery hunters, and I do live in Sudbury for the last 30 years

(None of your statement is correct).......Okaaay!
Skull, you and I have butted heads in the past over the spring bear hunt and regardless of your feelings, I do know what I'm talking about.
Outfitters are in the business of making money. That's it! Bottom line! Tying up 1 cabin for 1 hunter for 1 week does not make them any money. Archery hunters almost invariably have to track their animal. That takes time and therefore ups the costs. Numbers of bears lost to archery compared to rifle increase and that costs in lost ' inventory'. Whether you like archery or not, That's fact.
They're also reluctant to take on locals because locals are known to move in on baitsites in following years.

For the most part, outfitters who do welcome archery hunters or are willing to take one single hunter are either just starting out and hoping to build up their clientele OR are established and offer such poor services or poor poor bear success that their clients don't return. Usually their websites are full of exaggerated claims of numbers of bears taken along with exaggerated sizes.

Sorry, but I won't continue to debate these points with you but instead will let the folks on the board come to their own conclusions.

First of all, I'm trying to help promote our spring bear hunt to the members of this forum where there are single hunter or group hunters.

And your statement saying that outfitter that they take single Hunter and archery hunter to build up their business, that is poor judgment.
How can you even say something like that about an outfitter?

And the way I look at it, a bad shot is a bad shot. Does it matter if it is a gun hunt or bow hunt

If you think that somebody can go and sit on one of my bait sites without my permission, I will not really recommend it.

I'm not here to butt heads with anybody, I just don't agree with some of your statements.
I agree with you to let the folks of the forum to come to their own conclusions.

    Default Spring bear hunt

This time I must agree with SKull, the only reason outfitters are hesitant about taking on a single person is their safety. If there are two people then they know each others plans for the day either hunting or fishing. We set our bear sites up for archery and adjust them for gun hunters.
