Hunting trucks ford 150, dodge ram or???

My work depends on my truck. Since I went to a ford, my fuel budget was cut in half. It would take a tank of gas to drive my dodge ram to Winnipeg. Took a little less than half tank with my F 150, smaller tank on ford F 150.

The only reason Dodge Ram was number one selling truck last year, is because they make financing way too easy!!!

I have 3 company trucks, a F150 1997 which still runs, F150 2013 and a F150 2014!!

After doing a ton of research earlier this year trying to find a commuting, kid ferry, work, hunting, weekend, fishing, etc. etc. do everything under the sun vehicle... I ended up going for a Toyota Tacoma 4x4 SR5 with the full double-cab. Kids a comfortable in the back seat, lots of bed room, and the gas mileage is "OK" (although sucks now that the weather is cold and I have the mudders back on it). Towed my old fiberglass boat with it, could hardly feel it behind me.

I took it off-road a lot this hunting season and was very impressed.

It is not a "big" truck, so really depends on what you need.

Shop hard... I had several dealerships bidding against each other, managed to get them down to about $8K under list price... and then ended up buying a used one privately!

Your 4th post in this thread. We get it. You don't like dodge and got a lemon. We get it. You do loose a bit of credibility when you say your F150 used HALF the fuel your ram did. Ya right. You wanna blow smoke, go have a dart.

No lowbanksarcher, I had 2 dodges, Ram and Caravan that were lemons!!!

Now my 5th post, Ram is a pig on gas.

As I sit waiting for the kids to wake up I'll throw in my two cents.
This past spring while doing my annual post detail job of my 07 Ram Megacab I was horrified at the amount rust on the rockers and in the wheel wells. With some slight pressure my hand was able to easily punch through on both rotted rocker panels. Truck was babied from new, 147km, and not used as a work truck. That same afternoon I headed to the dealership to show them the insane amount of rust damage. Well aware my truck was seven years old I explained it was a little odd to have 6400$ Rust damage (their quote ) for a truck that age, and they agreed. Truck was dealer purchased and maintained at Barrie Crysler.
Manager took pics and was going to forward them to head office and get back to me . For 2 months he "dodged"my calls.
Ive yet to hear back, but am enjoying my New Nissan Titan Pro 4x .
Every truck has something to watch for , even my Nissan. It's the warrenty and service after the purchase I'm concerned about.

Never had a truck before so this is all new to me but like to research.

Your asking the wrong crowd...users are to blinded...go talk with a few independent truck mechanics and they will tell you what they have seen and what trucks spend time on their hoists putting their kids thru school. There are some horror stories of consistent problems with certain makes and models that only a mechanic will/can tell you.

Make part of your research driving around to a few garages....time well spent.

I drive Fords for work and there is no way I would buy one for personal use. I use to drive Chev/GM which i much preferred in terms of ergonomics and repair problems

I have an 07 Silverado. I don't baby my truck. It sees more gravel roads than pavement. Lots of rust and stone chips. I have 170k on it now and it runs mint. I put $1000 into it this year, value body in transmission and passenger CV joint the other day.


I'm hoping to keep it for at least another 5 years.....Then hopefully the new diesel trucks will be out. Like the sound of a 4cyl diesel with about 200hp and 400ft/p torque.

I drove the big three pickups. Everyone I owned had to go back to warranty work. Still have my 2008 Tacoma DC 4x4, still no frt brake job maybe this spring, had to replace 3 dash light $15. Never went back for warranty work, good on gas. Pulls the atv"s north cheaper than my diesel did. Best vehicle I ever owned.
