If I had that dog I would be buying it a saddle and making some cash of the giving the neighbourhood kids pony rides.

Its all in how a dog is trained, yes some have a mind of their own but I have seen and heard of even the gentlest dog breeds going stupid, mainly because of poor treatment and training.

I wonder which breed is most highly sought after and bred by drug dealers, thugs, and used for illegal dog fighting. Stats can be flawed in oh so many ways.

Honestly, I don't know. I guess it must be looks? There are lots of other breeds out there that would kick an average (not 175 lb'er) pitts butt.
Blame the deed, not the breed.

There's also a lot of breeds inside that " pittbull" breed or very similar looking breeds that could have gone into that stat. If you go England their considered " nany dogs" so it's not the breed....

Back in highschool we used to rescue fighting pitbulls. Once they were healthy, they were awesome pets. The problem is a real pitbull will die to please the people it loves. Once you teach it what makes you happy, it does it's best to make you happy. You take the stubbornness of a bulldog, the drive of a terrier that desire to please, then breed to enhance those traits, you end up with a very effective tool. A true fighting pitbull is under 45lbs at fighting weight. during a match, there are three people in the "ring" with the dogs, the owner of each dog, and a referee. Before the match, each dog is washed by the opponents ring man. If, your dog attacks any of these people, you loose the match. If you loose the match, you loose bragging rights and your line is useless in the fighting circles. It is in all the dogfighting communities best interests to breed non people aggressive dogs.
The people aggressive dogs come from crack heads, and wannabees who are breeding recklessly, towards an image. Although a 175lb dog is massive, it would have limited endurance in a fight and be beaten by a smaller dog with greater endurance.
If there were other breeds that could kick a pitbull's butt in a fight, those would be the dogs used consistently in fighting. There are demonstrations, and non serious fights where people choose "non traditional" fighting dogs, junkyard dogs, and mollosers but in the end it is always a "small" game bred pitbull that wins the fight.

...that survey is for fatality of dog attacks...I don't dispute the fact that they can kill, try searching just dog attacks...wonder what breed is at the top...sure is not the pitbull
