    “Canadian Houndsman Garmin Supporters”
Please join this Facebook group and help us to turn this around. Any help or suggestions are welcomed. Tell everyone you know who uses the Garmin tracking system to join this group. Above all PLEASE LET YOUR LOCAL M.P. KNOW that we are not happy about this Gov decision. If you are not aware of it, our Garmin tracking systems are illegal and can't be used. There will be more information available as we go along. I am working on a link... to send protest to all MPs and have been working with mine on this urgent matter. For the time being do not. I repeat do not hook your Garmin tracking system to the computer for any reason. You will probably find that your unit will become disabled. Garmin can repair it but cannot ship it back to Canada as per instructions from Canadian Government. There is a SMALL opportunity for us to have this REPEALED but we must ACT now. Please contact everyone you know who will be affected by this law. If we don't fight now we can throw our Garmin’s in the trash can. This is our last chance.
This is meant to inform anyone in Canada who uses a Garmin Tracking system.

Peninsula Bear its just a rumor about updating your unit on the Garmin web site. I have downloaded the most resent soft wear for my alpha and its still working. I know of at least 10 other people that have down loaded soft wear so they can track the DC50 and t5 collars. I also had a good talk with a company that field trials all of Garmin new products and he said the same thing it all a big rumor in Ontario. I do agree with you on contacting your local M.P. so we can use the tracking units here in Canada legality

Does anyone have letter made up that we should send to our local MP's? Like we have seen in the past for other items such as the Gun Registry letter?

Can't you just change your IP address, and download software. In theory, of course

We plan on the completion of the letter for the end of day. If anyone, and everyone you know, can sign on to our group, and the 2 main reasons we ask. #1. Is this way we don't have to jump forum to form with current events that everyone can view, and not one person is left out of our loop. #2. I will ask for everyones address once numbers are increased. We will personally send the letter out to each, and everyone so they can sign it, and forward it on to there local MP. I have approached the the board members of the Grey Bruce Night Hunters Club, in regards to the expense of sending the letters, and it is considered a beneficial cause which they will have no problem sending the first batch of letters out at there expense.

    Thanks,

    Jason

I'd be glad to send the letter to my MP. The Garmin isn't essential for my setters but it sure is essential if you have a hound. I'll look for the letter. Thanks for your work and welcome to the forum.

Just to let you guys( and the ladies ) know it's not the MP's the made the rules on which frequencies may or may not be used in Canada, that is set out by INDUSTRY CANADA( IC ). So write your MP's but remember they can only lobby on your behalf to Industry Canada.
There is a real mess in the 30Mhz to 10Ghz range right now because EVERYBODY wants a piece of it. It is not that IC enjoys not letting you use your collars, but that you as the owners of the collars are competing against players with very deep pockets and full time lobbyists on the payroll. If it comes down to letting GPS collars use a range of Frequencies for free or a someone paying millions for the rights. Well you can guess.

So write but remember they can ONLY LOBBY for you, they can not change anything in the house. The real power is at the INTERNATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATION UNION, which is a department of the UNITED NATIONS.

This is not discourage you from writing, in fact I encourage you to write, just don't blame the MP's if nothing changes over night.
Take the warning labels off. Darwin will solve the problem.

Thanks for your input Snowwalker. yes we are aware of the obstacles you mentioned. Our main goal is to flood the Minister of Industrys office with individual letters (also sent to our MPs) expressing our opposision to the policy decision made by his office to continue banning the use of Garmin systems for tracking. If we have the numbers we will have his ear and take it from there.
