They should do a $5 credit toward your next purchase if you call it in.... They can increase the original cost by $5-$10 (for deer too) and when you call in... report, harvest or no harvest you automatically get the next tag reduced by the said amount...
Money always seems to get people motivated....

This is a wonderful idea but will never happen with this cash strapped government. I have turkey hunted in several States and calling in harvested birds isn't an issue there like it is here. We all need to do the right thing and report our harvest. Remember if birds aren't harvested, MNR thinks numbers are down and then limits do get cut.

The revenues would be the same (most likely even make more because some still won't call in).... You first increase the turkey fee by $5.00 then and after you make the mandatory harvest report would you get the $5 credit....

Has too much time on their hands
the best way to get them to call in is to not sell them a lic if thy do not call in ,pretty easy if you got a lic last year and did not call it in you miss a season .everything is all in the computers now so it would be easy to see who got a tag and who called in there report .if you did not have a tag then no report, if you bought a tag then the report will show up when you go to buy a lic the next spring ,The same when I went to buy my deer lic thy would not process it till I bought my small game .with computers this would be very simple ,Dutch

Lots of guys buy tags and don't fill them. How would your idea deal with that eventuality ? It would be very difficult to enforce.

FYI,
you can report the Turkey harvest on-line at https://www2.on.wildlifelicense.com/...1&type=Harvest, it works well.

You only have to report if you fill your tag. So saying if dont report then you don't get a tag won't work unless they make it that you report at the end of the season if you didnt use your tag. You cant report if you didn't use your tag

I think Dutch has a good idea, and I'll make a slight modification. I'd make it mandatory for EVERYONE to report their results. If you didn't fill your tag, you'd have a period of time, the month of June for example, to report any unfilled tags. The only questions you'd have to answer would be "were you unsuccessful" and "how many days of the season did you hunt". If you fail to report, then you forfeit the right to buy tags until you file the delinquent report & there would be a 1 week waiting period before you could buy a tag, as a penalty for not reporting.
So many critters & so little time to hunt......

I would refer back to Scribe. The government needs money and will sell tags. Reports or no reports.
