40 min. north of Barrie - the britt bumped one woodcock at our favourite spring haunt. Puddles iced over, 95% snow cover still in the bush. Why do they always fly straight over your head when the season isn't open?

A beautiful point on a solitary bird today north of Barrie. Clearly the bulk of the birds are still south.

Multiple woodcock finds Friday and today in the London area, looks like the main flight is in around here.

Just got back from a walk with the pup bumped 3 birds. 2 small ones the other a big heavy one. This week been out every day to work on the pups bush legs first day multiple flushes. Flighty birds so pup hasn't made first contact yet but at 3 months happy she's just tromping bushes. This week should be golden.

Got out this morning hoping the snow would make the skittish birds sit a bit longer so the pup could bump her first bird. Too no avail the birds still flush way too far to catch the dogs attention. Managed to see 3 today. Hoping the weather forecast for this week is wrong as a week of rain would suck right now.
