    Default Glucosamine products

I took my both dogs to the vet. My vet suggested to get my 5 year old golden and 14 month golden onto a Glucosamine Hydrochloride product. In order to prevent any joint problems in the future. I just wanted know who does give Glucosamine Hydrochloride supplement to their dog? And what products? I was looking at zoom hunt dog hunt product- anyone have experience?

If you are feeding the ACANA product line you will not have add additional Glucosamine Hydrochloride. Check the bag and it will give you the amount the dog food kibble. Most dog food kibbles are relatively low but the ACANA Sport and Agility I feed is very high and anymore added will just be pissed out.

I feed my dogs- acana grasslands which has 600mg/kg of glucosamine and sport and agility has 1400 mg/kg of glucosamine. That seems great but my dogs do not do well with chicken. So I might need to do the supplement route.

    Thanks

600mg/kg is actually pretty good compared to most dog food brands anywhere from 300mg/kg to 500mg/kg. I always like to be in the 800mg/kg to 1000mg/kg range.

    Orijen Fish has 1250 mg/kg
don't know how much the supplements are; i.e. how much you save in the end on one and pay a littel more for the other, anyway just another option

I use to use Nutri Vet Hip & Joint Advanced Strength when I was feeding Diamond Naturals. You can order it online at a cost of $14.00 for 90 tablets -500mg Glucosamine and 400mg Chondroitin.

I used green lipped mussel for years but switched to fish oil capsules.

I think glucosamine supplements are probably just as useless for dogs as they are for humans
