Typical of a Torontonian, Thinks the rest of the province revolves around it....

One might wonder how much gold, silver, zinc, nickel, copper, rare earth metals come from Toronto. How many diamonds come from Toronto?

How much lumber, or paper come from Toronto?

How much hydro-electricity comes from Toronto.

How much food stuffs come from Toronto?

Yeah I guess flowerpot is right...The rest of Ontario cannot survive without Toronto's handouts

Reality is almost 1 in 10 Canadians live in the GTA. I despise the place as much as anybody but that economic clout can't be denied. Toronto supply's more tax money than it consumes compared to rural Ontario. And if they actually had to they could source Hydro, food and other essentials from many other jurisdictions who would happily supply it. So unfortunately yeah, the North actually needs Toronto. I can't believe I just wrote this......

If that was true,Toronto would have all kinds of money for infrastructure and public transit. They wouldn't need to be whining and moaning that they're broke (boo-hoo) and need OUR tax money, too. Any time they think they can go it alone,I hope they don't let the door hit them on the arse on the way out.

Good idea flower john. Suits me fine and no doubt a lot more people like me. I would be fine with dirt roads, keep all the citiots in hog town , and let us common folk enjoy peace, quiet , serenity and "REAL" natural green spaces. Not fantasy, hocus pocus, turbines, solar, carbon tax, save the planet in three years BUL-SH-T that we get dumped on us daily by half wits with big mouths, deep pockets,(thanks to lieberal supporters) no brains progressive ideologies. Keep all your taxes. Keep all your smog. Keep all your holier than thou attitudes right in hogtown where they belong. We will survive in our shanties, dirt roads, horse and buggies just fine. Some day we might even be as important as you citiots that think hog town is the centre of the universe, but I highly doubt it. Morals, ethics, values, honesty , integrity and an unwavering commitment to help a neighbour when you can are just a few of the small things that we common rural folk hold in high esteem. Dear Lord, let us give thanks to Toronto for keeping our roads paved and not just two wheeled ruts through that vast wilderness outside of Toronto. While we are it Dear Lord, please bless us with any extra income possible to send to Toronto and Kathleen Wynne to help her in a small humble way to, help her out with her 130 billion dollar infrastructure plan so we can drive cars instead of horse and buggies. Thank you Dear Lord.

It's not that simple. Don't get me wong here, I hate Wynne and the people who live off her and support her and most of them are Citiots. But reality is there is no value in growing the trees and logging them or growing the crops unless there is a market to buy it. And to further complicate it to be competitive you need to produce it in mass quantities to reap the economies of scale. Guys growing apples in Collingwood now compete with China. Fruits & vegetables come from California and South America. We import meat from New Zealand. Hydro can be imported from Quebec cheaper than we produce it. The family farm died for a reason. Toronto is the market and as distasteful as it is to admit they don't need the rest of Ontario as much as it needs Toronto. There is a reason why wealth is concentrated in urban centers all over the globe, basic economics at play here. Don't shoot the messenger here, he hates Toronto too.

Tolls are such a Mickey Mouse way of generating revenue when looking at the BIGGER problem which the Libs have been world class experts at ignoring.

From the Financial Post, 3 days ago:

With twice the debt of California, Ontario is now the world’s most indebted sub-sovereign borrower

    Wahoo
While its true the Liberals and the Unions (and their supporters) have ignored the spending and waste, have ignored so much…While it's true we can likely expect to pay steep prices for it now. "thanks guys, as though things aren't tough enough the "peons"….

Just as with Greece (no Im not drawing a direct parallel) we should probably expect somewhere down the road steep austerity measures as well. Eventually common sense should prevail and these clowns and their bed fellows will get the boot.

And thats when it really catches up to people. Lets hope between now and then, things don't get any worse (recessions, world events, Interest rates, housing markets/crashes and more)…And lets hope between now and then, people start looking down the road 5-10-20years….
