Maybe they should start teaching the difference between rifled and saboted slugs in the hunter ed program. This is basic stuff.

They do! Yet by the looks of it to some people it's a difficult concept to grasp.

Same group of people who think that the 30-30 is no faster than them running through the bush, might as well take a shotgun with slugs.

We had a guy bring a 12ga as his dogging gun, no problems there, until he took it out at lunch to shoot it for the first time. He hunted a whole day not ever shooting a slug through his gun, let alone enough to know where it landed with the bead (no sights). He pulled out some $3 a shot sabot slugs and proceeded to miss the 4x4 sheet of plywood at 15 yards, ha ha ha.

I am very happy no deer ended up in front of him earlier in the morning.

Arguing on the internet is like competing in the special Olympics ,Even if you win you are still special. I read the posts Dutch and would conclude the clown is a lost cause and not waste any more bandwidth on him.

OK I don't want to hijack this thread but I have a kind of related question (which may be almost as stupid). Can you fire shot through a rifled barrel? Imagine you are sitting in your tree stand deer hunting, and a grousse comes out (lets assume everything is in season and legal) - can you swap shells and properly take the grousse, or will this fire poorly or damage/foul the rifled barrel?
