So some guy says that he is going to kill you someday - so what do you do - sit around and wait for it to happen - or pray that he has a change of heart - or maybe move across the country and hope he doesn't find out where you now live - no - you do something that will allow you to defend yourself when the time comes - and the best way is to arm yourself - Fox - it's kinda hard to be carrying a shotgun around with you but you can easily carry a handgun - so as I said - down here she would get a handgun to carry wherever she goes - and when the big day arrives and the guy comes to kill her - surprise, surprise -

She could have got a handgun, easy, buy they were all attacked in their home, where a shotgun could have been and I bet probably was in this area of the country where the majority of people, men and women, both shoot and shoot well.

The problem is that this guy wanted to kill these people and would have done it, if he did not do it up close he could have from a distance with a hunting rifle and take your handgun carry belief and toss it out the window.

Stop saying that everything can be solved with a gun, this is not the case, this man was messed up in the brain, he should never have been released from jail due to the threats he was throwing out there after his release.

This is a horrible thing that destroyed a number of wonderful communities with very tight knit groups of people, even in a community where the people are there for one another and supporting their friends and family in the best possible way cannot stop something like this and nor can a handgun.

The Madawaska Valley will never be the same, the people there will never forget.

Joe...if a person is bent on killing you, no amount of firepower will help. He would likely know you could be armed, and would just whack you before you knew it was coming. It is next to impossible to prevent this type of occurrence, with the exception of locking someone away! We all know that won't happen.

I understood that THIS thread was about three law abiding women who BY LAW had no means to defend themselves when they needed it. Just made it easier for their attacker...

Sorry, no, this thread was about 3 women who were murdered for being connected to this psycho and being killed for doing nothing other than being women and connected to this man. There is no way anyone could have defended themselves from someone like this unless they locked themselves in a bunker.

Joe was the one who derailed it and turned it into a thread about handguns and defense, there was no way for them to defend themselves, no handgun, shotgun or anything else would have stopped this guy.

A justice system with some teeth would have stopped this guy. Unfortunately we have a legal system here that tends to favour the criminal not the victims.
