Nothing near London. My 2 favourite spots showed zero birds - if they were there my setter would have found them.

They are filtering in. Put up six on Sunday. Only got a shot at one, and a tree branch gave its life to save it.

We walked a new place which looks like woodcock haven today, but found 0 birds, I only spotted chalk in one spot.
It looks quite dry, I need to find a real swamp.

Its time. The 2 I got Tuesday are nice. No pin feathers however they don't have their saddle bags on though. Water is the key found all near the edges of recently flooded areas close to beaver dams.

Hopefully they hit the London area soon, I'll be up there the next two days hunting. Will let you know if I come across any.

No flushes in the bush I tried yesterday. I think it's still early for flight birds.

Flushed 6 in the south yesterday, managed to put 3 in the game bag with a bonus grouse....first one in 15 years! Of the 3 woodcock, only one had pin feathers and the other two were relatively clean.

Somewhere between Lake Erie and the 401 in terms of a general area. I had an 'off' year last year so it's nice to see some birds early in the season.

Good Luck and let's hear some reports!
