anyone else shooting a Pedersoli Jager?
Just curious if anyone else shoots a pedersoli Jager - I picked one up a while back and was curious to see what other people have found to shoot best.
factory spec load from pedersoli is 90g ffg with patched ball (.535 with 0.10 patch)
but seeing as it is a fast twist barrel 1:24, I've tried firing conicals with much success.
I'm heading to the range this weekend with some friends, a bunch of different slugs(minnie, TC maxi, greatplains etc) and hope to figure out what it likes best.
Thanks,
df

Welcome to the forum...good to hear from new guys shooting smoke poles !!!
I never heard of a 1:24 barrel on the Jager....it's usually 1:64. So if you have a fast twist, you should have no problems with the conicals.
Let us know how the weekend shooting goes !!!

According to Pedersoli's catalogue, the Jager model definitely has a 1:24 twist rate .

IIRC there are several models out and about that have been made over the years with a 1:64 as well, but i've verified that mine does infact have the 1:24... though if canada post doesnt show up with this order... I may not be doing much on saturday

If I can figure out how to attach some photos.... I'll show a few... but TLDR is good range day despite weather. 5 round 5" groups at 50 yards with minnie balls, larger groups with PRB because I was using .530 ball with .010 patches, i mispoke in my earlier post - factory spec is .530 with .015 patch.
I didnt fare so well at 100m, with either PRB or conicals, 60m was about the same as 50yards -slightly larger group.
Despite the rain, only 2 flashes in the pan, no hangfires, a couple of click-'s due to starting with a well worn flint.
As a new shooter in general I was really happy to see some improvement between this trip to the range and the last time I was out.
.
Add in a few mags of some other stuff and all in all a safe fun day!
A bit disapointed that my order of slugs etc didn't show up in time, but I guess that means I'll have to head to the range again soon
