Rem 700 PR Bullet smokeless conversion. Wasn't happy with this one at first but once I found the right load it is absolutely incredible. I will be posting a write up on it with pictures when hunting is all done.
Nice I will be looking forward to the write up. I do really like what I,ve read about the 700 ult. Its in the category of "outside my budget but possible must have" ..he he.

I have a cva optima but one day would like to own a cva Accura v2 lr. It is heavier but has a 30 inch barrel and is made for long distance shooting. I am left handed and the savage would not work for me...

Any complaints with the optima? I,m kind the opposite.I want to stick to something in the 24-26" range.I cant see myself ever doing any real long distance shooting.I like something a bit smaller and easier to carry.

No I just like the long distance shooting. I plan to keep the optima. My is a version 1 with qrbp.. I prefer CVA products over TC. The savage smokeless seems like a great idea but I hate buying guns that are discontinued.

The savage 10ml look great for sure.Very expensive though even for a used one.I,m not 100% sure but i thought the rem 700 ultimate can do smokeless. Not 100% though, I haven,t developed that much of an interest in smokeless yet. Most people say they prefer TC over cva. I have never even looked at a TC up close let alone handle one.
Have you looked at the traditions vortex ldr. They might be a nice long range shooter. I love the idea of the sto n go stock to keep extra loads and stuff in when you are hunting.

Both are made in Spain the vortex lr and cva accura v2 lr. I am brand loyal and prefer a cva product. I think they make a better gun. I like there barrels and accurancy guarantee. I have always wanted a cva accura v2.

Has too much time on their hands
700 ultimate is black powder or substitute only I believe. Not made for smokeless I thought but maybe I'm wrong.
What I did was purchase a 243 heavy barrel 700 sps and sent it to PR Bullet
They installed a green mountain smokeless barrel with large rifle primer breach plug. They charge $499 US to do that including barrel and I paid 573 for the donor rifle.

No company seems willing to go down the 'smokeless' route again Jack...lawsuits waiting to happen.
I've read on other forums of guys working up loads using smokless in the Ultimate, but nothing that Remington will sanction.

Well my local store had some guns in that were not listed on their site so I got to look at a few. The traditions pursuit ultralight was a nice looking gun and super light. No real complaints other than the stock was a bit narrow and the ram rod kinda rattled a bit in the holder. The cva accura mr is a very nice gun, def more solid and heavier than the pursuit and a much nicer stock.A very nice gun, but Still only the rebounding hammer as a safety. The TC pro hunter was a major step up in quality and obviously price and is a very very nice gun.Surprisingly it too only has a rebounding hammer for a safety. There were a few others but I didn,t bother since they were more geared for the long range shooter. So its still a toss up. The traditions has a scope which was fairly decent so for 30.00 more than the cva its a complete package and has the extra safety. I just need to mull it over and make a decision.

To me the black powder theatrics is all part of the fun. At this point taking everything into consideration i,m probably looking at something like a cva optima, possibly an accura or one of the less expensive TC,s.That has not been decided for sure yet.It looks like I will be heading down to BP this weekend to shoulder some and see them up close. If I see something that strikes me as a "must have" Then I will just have to come up with the extra $...he he.I wont be buying one yet.I can get just as good or better price locally but it would likely have to be ordered.
I'm not an expert in TC, but comparing Wolf vs Optima the only huge difference to me is latch mechanism. It is way better in Optima. But if you managed well your good olde Wolfe sitting on the tree stand, then probably you may not need to upgrade to Optima. Accura V2 is different story. It has an adjustable trigger and Berlaga barrel, which claimed to be more accurate than Optima one and it is. The only problem is CVA charges arm and leg for that. But the good thing is that Accura happens to be on sale from time to time. For example, it was about $560 after tax on cabelas.ca this July scoped(!!!).
