4 for 12 this morning, south of 401. Birds were scattered in groups with lots of blank territory between.

1 for 1 on tree trunks, same area. Dog disgusted with my shooting.

That's half the problem, I think -- choked too tight. But the other half is failure to keep the wood on the wood.

Seen a third of the birds from last Sunday managed to knock down 3. A bonus was the sighting of a grouse. Dog started trailing something figured must be a pheasant. As I don't bother getting a municipal license really wasn't prepared for the point and flush. When a grouse lifted instead was to surprised too even bring up the gun. Seems quite a few have left could be the beginning of the end.

We put up a handful of woodcock each day while on Pelee for the pheasant hunt. That was last Thursday-Saturday. I'm going out this weekend hoping to find one or two more...

This morning: flushed seven (no repeats), shot at four, bagged three.

(This trick of getting your cheek on the stock works so well, you'd think you were supposed to shoot that way or something....)

LOL My girl put up one Friday; the birds aren't all gone yet.
