Throne Speech: Liberals to introduce Gun control measures
Well from the horses mouth;
To that end, the Government will introduce legislation that will provide greater support for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault; that will get handguns and assault weapons off our streets

Who again was it who said he wasn't going to do this? Provincial registries across the country can't be far. I wonder what the definition of "assault rifle" will be? The .303 Lee Enfield was an assault rifle when introduced.
i bet there are a bunch of idiots who voted Liberal who will flip when they have their semis and handguns confiscated.

Do what? It's an utterly vague and meaningless promise. You could work to "get handguns and assault weapons off our streets" without introducing a single gun control measure. There's no reason to believe on the basis of that one line in the throne speech that the Liberals intend to do anything beyond what they already proposed in their platform.

I hope you are right but I don't think you are. He is a puppet to Wynne's activist agenda and the special interests who elected him. If I owned a handgun I would pizzed. Any black gun actually is likely going to be confiscated.

As were all the other 'promises' in the speech....lacking details seems to the new motto of this government.

Yes - bold vague statements are what got him voted in and he seems to think he can run the country that way without any real meat on the bone. He can keep the armchair environmentalists and women (who think he's cute) happy that way but eventually he is going to have to do something meaningful. And that is when the wheels will quickly fall off and all the Harper Haters will turn into JT haters.

The BONEHEADS that voted LIBERAL should be hit especially hard . THIS immature character is going to make us the "laughing-stock" of the world . --- Not many people liked Harpers personality BUT at least they took him seriously . --- It seems we were outnumbered by sn*t-noses and "dissatisfied" females .

Of course the throne speech was full of vague promises. It was a throne speech.

I agree that it is a very vague line in the speech. Hard to say what it may encompass, although, like Welsh mentioned, it may pertain to the Liberal election platform. From another report:
Trudeau's speech did, however, make reference to his party's plan to beef up gun control.
The speech vowed that the government will "get handguns and assault weapons off our streets," echoing language in their campaign platform that committed to, amongst other things, bringing back regulatory paperwork required to transport certain types of weapons, kick in more money for anti-gang squads, increase background checks for gun purchases, and to increase regulations on gun vendors.
The Liberals promised, however, that they will not bring back the national long-gun registry that the previous government scrapped.
