Bands ???? Can't eat bands, there are a bunch of then hanging on the wall at the side of my reloading bench, it really gets me when I see some so called experts that have their call lanyards all festooned with bands , even to the point of polishing them and hanging around their necks .
I took a young guy out once , and as the geese were coming in he says " let them land , I want to look them over with my binoculars and shoot the ones with bands " this is what he learned from a "goose guide that had a lot of bands around his neck , and it impressed this young guy .
I said if you want to hunt with me , I shoot them "on the wing " , not on the ground , never took him out again .

I say to each there own as long as you use the geese you shoot who cares, there's too many of them around anyway.

I would take the band.
I've never got a band before, and would be very interesting to see the information of the bird.

I would take the pile of birds over the band if i was with other people. Would rather have the memory and stories of a successful day in the field than a single banded bird that the memory would just be the time we went out and only got one bird. If i was solo hunting it would be a different story id take the band over the pile of birds.

Curious is it the band hunting that bothered you or shooting them on the ground? With you on the band hunting as I would rather shoot the bird that presents the best /cleanest kill shot than stretch for a bird with a band. Conversely would rather land a flock in the decoy than whiff at a bird in the air.

To each their own !
I think what really pizzed me off was that all he wanted to shoot was geese wearing leg bands , as this was what impressed him the most , the fact that a ??guide that took him out hunted that way and he had all those bands around his neck

Think we are on the same page. Be it beards, antlers, ribbons, or bands none really measures the success of a hunter better than meat on the ground.
