Default Huntsville Area - Bella Lake

    Hey all,

Was wondering if anyone might be able to point me in a good direction for hunting grouse in this area.

I'll be up in this area at season opening this year.
Thought it might be nice to get out for my first upland hunt while in the area.

Not looking for honey holes or anything just wondering if someone might point me in a good direction or better yet takr me out for a hunt, would be great to learn from someone with experience.

Feel free to PM if you do not want to share publicly.

    Cheers.

It's a little early yet but I'm planning on moving to the area hopefully by then. If so I'd be more than happy to go for a hunt with you. Pup will want to come too though

Ardbrae kennels in Castleton. I have 2 of them now. Smart dogs and sometimes a little too smart

All of the land around Bella Lake is privately owned except for a small portion on the north shore called "Second Sandy." It's a conservation area and I'm not sure if hunting is permitted. That are areas of crown along the Big East river but there is also some private land so you have to be careful about where you go. If you take Muskoka Rd 8 further east you will cross between Dotty Lake on the North side of the road and Oxbow Lake on the South side. The road than turns north for a short piece and than turns east again. On the east-west portion of road between Dotty lake and the next lake Tasso there is a decent amount of crown on either side of the road (+/- 1000 acres on each side of the road). Be advised that bear season will be open so I'd be wearing lots of orange.

The wilderness is not a stadium where I satisfy my ambition to achieve, it is the cathedral where I worship.

Most of the land around there is all private. Either owned by Loon Lake Hunt Club Inc., or a second club by Mansell and Rebecca Lakes (Sunset something ?). Well posted, and well hunted.
