My 2016 buck story
Hello everyone I'm pretty new to this forum. I love sharing and reading stories of mine and others hunts. It kinda reminds me of when I was a kid watching scuttlebutt lodge. Lol
So 2015 was a weird year for me, things came up with my family and I wasn't able to hunt as much as usual but I was still blessed enough to put in time. I watched many a doe and young buck quite often and to me that was worth the price of admission. One morning I was sitting watching my plots enjoying being out when all of a sudden my buck walked out. Without hesitation I lifted my rifle and dropped it. It was a brute. Most of the time that's where the story would kinda end but there's more. Lol. I tagged it right away and took some pics then dragged it down to my garage ( I hunt my back yard). I then went in for breakfast. Not long after my son came in and told me there was a helicopter flying around our place, I asked what colour and when he told me yellow I knew what was up. They landed the helicopter right in my yard and up to the house they came. I think they thought they had me. Hahaha. I went out to greet them and as soon as I got to the one co he said where is it? I smiled and said come with me and brought them to my garage. They looked and commented oh that's a big one. Lol. They checked everything out and all was legit. Such a great feeling to shoot a nice buck and know that you totally followed the law and have nothing to worry about. Sorry for the long read and I hope you enjoyed the story. I will post pics to back it up[emoji3]

They seen the gut pile. They were doing a blitz with 5 ground units and a chopper. He told me my place is so far off the main road that the only way they can rush up on me is with a chopper. My driveway is 1300+ feet.

Great buck and cool story.
The wilderness is not a stadium where I satisfy my ambition to achieve, it is the cathedral where I worship.

For next year remove the upper portion of your tag, that's your lisence that allows you hunt deer in a group. I made that mistake too, went out to party hunt in ML and for forgot it was on my deer, but at least the head was in the freezer.

Lol, the one co informed me of that. He removed it for me and signed it with his badge number. Once they seen everything was legit they were very good. Wish they would stop changing the tags and stuff. Simple folk like me don't adjust well.
