Since there are no sport fish in NL, the trout population has no natural predators (other than large birds) so they were hungry, and plentiful. None were huge, but all were pansies - great eating with the largest getting up near 18". It was great time, and so I thought you may like to see a few pictures.

The image 4th from the left (Image# 5339 or Attachment# 33022A) is that an Atlantic Salmon? Doesn't look like a Speck to me. It kind of looks a bit like a Brown Trout too, but I wouldn't think they would stock them on the Rock?

Looks like a great trip. Do you have any shots of the scenery? Thanks for posting.

In the sink photograph it looks like they have black spot disease. Nice fish either way.

Wrong photo. I am talking about the one to the left of the sink photograph.

So, I grew up in Trinity Bay, New Harbour to be exact. Most of these fish were caught within about 1/2 drive of that. There is one brown trout in the set of pictures - good eye. I don't keep the browns, but they are still great fun to catch and release. That little creek is very near my home.

As for the stocking - I'm not sure of anywhere on the island where they stock trout. Certainly not on my end. All these guys were wild. And really plentiful. Most trips only lasted about 2-3 hours. By that time we had our limit - either in weight or number.

Some of the trout do have little black spots on them. Not sure what it's all about. It doesn't affect the taste, or even the look of the flesh inside. I heard a guy once say it's cause there were so many trout in one little area, but I'm not sure. I don't worry too much about it.

Finally, a big "Howsyagettinon?" to all the other Newfies who are now living up here!

    Beautiful area, Trinity Bay.

I'm from the very tip of the northern peninsula. Born and raised fisherman.

Man that is some nice looking brookies. Haven't been brook fishing in a lot of years and then they were smaller than yours. I'm so jealous.

I can't say I'm a big scenery guy, but I did snap a few photos as it relates to fishing, of course!
This is the Atlantic - right in front of my parents house. No fishing in it this trip, but have had lots of fun there growing up.

This little brook is where I caught the brown trout in the previous photo. It connects a large pond to the salt water and is only about 5 km long. Lots of big browns and great fun.

This photo, is of "Peak Pond" and is home to some of the most beautiful Brook Trout around. It is right on the Trans-Canada Highway, but doesn't see a lot of pressure. I have never returned from this pond without a feed of trout. You can't see it there, but the trout were jumping after mayflies, and I had great fun with the fly rod.

This last picture is the very bottom of Trinity Bay. It's actually very near to where the aforementioned brook runs out into the salty water. It was a beautiful evening, and so, I couldn't resist a picture. If only I could bring home some of the salt water smell!

Hope that gives some idea of scenery. Like I mentioned, I don't take a lot of pictures of land - I like to focus on family and fish
