Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab 4 X 4 5.7L V8 90k's
My truck has this ticking noise that is apparent upon deceleration at 60 km/hr to20 km/hr. If you put the truck in neutral or if the truck is in tow/haul mode, it disappears.
The ticking noise sounds like how a playing card attached to a pedal bike hitting the spokes sounds. Thought is it's a hydraulic valve lifter noise which is being considered a normal characteristic of the hemispherical combustion chamber (Hemi) engine
The ticking sound is typically heard from a warm engine, idling, while standing to one side of the truck -- more commonly noticed bouncing off the wall at a drive-thru. The technical cause is thought to be the somewhat horizontal positioning of the hydraulic roller tappets (valve lifters)in the engine block. The lifter location projects normal lifter noise out the sides of the engine
Certain engines do tick slightly more than others. The only attempted fix I could imagine would be replacing the lifters, which maynot accomplish anything, and I don't see tearing down the engine being worth the risk.
Any experienced thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

That's just the hemi tick. Lol or so people are told. Before you do anything drastic make sure it's not an exhaust manifold leak. They're known for that also.

Im at 80k on my hemi and nothing yet. Could it be a pulley bearing of some type? If you hear it standing still you can eliminate the brake wear indicators.

I have the exact same thing happening!!!!... I have a 2013 Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi....with 75,000 ish on it. The other day noticed the ticking noise as I was passing by objects...(would bounce the noise back more) was going to book an appointment at the dealer Monday and see what they say. Kinda glad its a common thing though..........I think!!!!

That's the wise thing to do. My supervisor brought his in and they fixed the manifold leaks under warranty. Broken studs.

TurkeyObsessed, not sure you have the same thing (however, you still might), but I would first check to see if it's either a nail or rock in the tire. The times I've heard that noise where it bounces off things as I drive by, that turned out to be the case.
