Rooster tail
Does anyone know how to fix a rooster tail from the transducer. Just put the HB helix 5 unit on my boat and followed directions on how to install... level with bottom of boat. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, heard that there is a plug that Humminbird provides ... is this true??
Life is about kicking butt, not kissing it!

It's a normal occurrence with transducers. My Humminbird and Lowrance does the same

Has too much time on their hands
I would think a small flap above the transducer would work

I've never had a rooster tail like this before. We're talkin' 20' in the air. The Helix transducer is twice the size of a normal Humminbird transducer.

Yea, that's a lot more than I have. I took my Helix off and replaced it with a Lowrance Hook 7. That transducer is quite a bit bigger than the Helix. I still don't have a 20 foot rooster tail. Both transducers were mounted so they were about .5 inch below the hull. It throws maybe a 3 footer. About the same as my Helix did. I've never seen a 20 foot rooster tail from a transducer.

Even if you mount it flush with the bottom of the boat it still depends on where you install the transducer ! --- I ALWAYS install mine 6-8" aside of the skeg ( to the left of it) . Never had a problem with a rooster-tail .

If you have a rooster tail that means the transducer is to low in the water. The instructions for my helix 5 say raise it up.

That is what we have always been told and learned.
